I completely lied to everyone in my last post. I started writing an article for everyone, and then ended up getting a job and a girlfriend and didn’t have any time to myself. My job was a technical support job for Costco members, where I take calls helping people solve problems they were having with their notebooks, desktops, and telelvisions. It ended up making me not want to be on the computer ever, because I was afraid I would have to troubleshoot a problem of my own. Then as luck would have it my computer takes a dive, and won’t turn on anymore.
I still haven’t fixed the computer yet, I have been using an old computer that was just sitting around. I ended up leaving the job, which has been great for my sanity, and now have decided to go to the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale for Web Design and Interactive Media. I’m planning on making a career out of the internet, and can’t wait to start.
In the meantime, I still have a girl friend, and am looking for part time work until January when I’m set to leave for school. So don’t expect major updates, but I’ll try to come up with interesting things for you guys.
Now for a shameless plug. You guys should check out WinUp. It’s a great screenshot upload tool for windows. http://winupsite.co.uk
Right now it’s in the early stages of development. You could probably call it an alpha release. It’s quite stable, and does what it is meant to do, but don’t get used to the way it works, or the features it has at the moment, as it is constantly changing. The program itself was written by a friend of mine, Ben, and I created and manage the website. Check it out and let me know what you think!

I’ve never been very good at blogging. I know that the only way to get visitors to come back is to have great informational or interesting posts, and having new content often. I have been quite busy with a couple projects over the past couple weeks, and also dealing with life problems. I’m throwing a couple of ideas around in my head for a good blog post, and I will start writing that as soon as I am done with this project. I’m hoping that won’t be more than a day or two to have the project finished, and another day or two to write up the post.
Check back in a couple days and I’ll have something great for you to read!

As a Web Developer (as I like to call myself) I have coded websites from PSD’s (PhotoShop Document), plenty of times. I always notice that each and every designer has their own way of organizing a PSD and what elements they show within their PSD’s. I have been very lucky to only come across a few designers that don’t organize their layers into folders, but I also have been lucky in that those designs were very simple and I was still able to navigate around just fine.
If as a designer you don’t organize your layers (from the beginning) into properly labeled folders, you’re not only hurting the person who is going to code the design, but you’re also hurting yourself. Nobody is perfect, and therefore you will find mistakes that need to be fixed. It’s always easier to be able to find that layer without searching to make changes. This saves you time to design more!
Another thing that I have noticed from certain designers is that they don’t design the whole site. Now in most cases this isn’t really an issue, a lot of websites have similar look throughout the whole site, but a couple examples that don’t are Forums, some CMS’s and web shop scripts (for hosting a store front, online). If as a designer you don’t design all the pages, then you are giving your coder a hard time, and also wasting more time for yourself, because you may not be focused on this project anymore, (after all you did send it off as “finished”) and could have a hard time telling your coder what the sub pages need to look like. You also may have a coder who isn’t really good at designing, and can’t envision what you’re explaining to him. This can actually cause you to lose money, by wasting time that you might not have. Think about the coding side of things when you design, it will help everyone out in the long run.
What about you, do you have any pet-peeves when it comes to your designers creating PSD’s? And what about designers? Are there times when your coders get on your nerves? Let me know below!

Welcome everyone to my completely redesigned, rethought out website. I have decided to use a freely available wordpress template with my installation of wordpress since I really liked this one and thought it would work well for what I wanted.
The goal of this website is mainly to attract clients to my coding services that I provide. At the time of writing, my services and portfolio pages are blank, but they are high on my to do list. I have been spending the past few days getting wordpress setup to my liking and to make sure that it has everything that you (the readers) could want when visiting this site.
I also want to point out that though I have a blog, this does not mean I will be writing about my day to day life in it. This blog to me will be strictly related to web development, although daily life may slip in here or there. If you want to know all about my daily life, then Twitter is where you should go. Otherwise I will try and keep these posts informative, innovative, and fun.
For now this is what I’ll leave you with as I need to finish off the rest of the site, but feel free to leave comments, subscribe to my feed, follow me on Twitter, or use the contact form. I will reply to everyone that messages me, as long as it’s not spam.
Thanks for listening, and I look forward to writing more later.
